Relief to students who have returned from abroad after doing MBBS, they can do internship in these colleges, see list

NEET UG 2023:
NMC has released the list of hospitals on its official website. The list has been released state-wise, where students who have returned from abroad after completing their MBBS degree can complete their internship.

NEET UG 2023: There is very good news for the students who have returned to India after doing MBBS from abroad. The National Medical Commission (NMC) has relaxed its norms for one year. Foreign medical graduates who have passed the screening test for interns have been allowed internship in non-teaching hospitals.

By May next year, internship will be allowed in 673 designated hospitals of the states. The relaxation was announced keeping some students in mind. Especially those students who completed graduation from China and Ukraine last year and came back due to Corona infection and Ukraine war.

The National Medical Commission on Wednesday issued a clarification saying that recognized non-teaching hospitals will be allowed to provide internship to foreign medical graduates till May 2024. This relaxation is given only as a one time measure.

The allocation of FMG to these non-teaching hospitals will also be done through the respective State Medical Councils. NMC has also released the state-wise list of selected 679 hospitals on its official website.

The clarification issued by the National Medical Commission on Wednesday said that the two-year internship will be applicable only to those candidates who come back to India during their final year and complete their education online. The clarification states that students who are required to do two years of internship can opt to do their second year of internship from another college or state.

The medical education regulator last year made it mandatory that students do internships only in medical college hospitals. Hospitals were asked to ensure that 7.5 per cent of their internship seats are given to foreign graduates. Along with this, the selected people should be given scholarship at par with Indian interns.
