Ather 450S: New electric scooter coming to compete with Activa, will be cheaper?

According to the reports, it will be an affordable model, which will attract more and more customers due to its affordable price tag.

Battery operated scooter sales have been low during April 2023. Electric two-wheeler companies like Ola and Hero have also introduced cheaper models to increase sales. Cheap price means less features

Due to the cheap price, less features can be seen in the upcoming electric scooter. This means that it will be less advanced than the current 450X Pro variant. However, this thing does not matter so much for people planning to buy a scooter in a low budget. It is not necessary to get a 7-inch color TFT screen, as the Ather 450X is already using a gray unit instead of a color one.

Will have to bring cheap electric scooter

Compared to the Honda Activa, electric scooters from companies like Ather are quite expensive. The starting ex-showroom price of Activa is Rs 75,347, while the base variant of Ather 450X will come for Rs 98,079. That's why customers with low budget would like to buy Honda Activa only. If you want to compete with petrol scooters like Activa, then the electric scooter will have to be launched at a cheaper price.

Expected price of Ather's new scooter

According to auto website Rushlane, Ather has trademarked the name of Ather 450S. The price of the new scooter will likely be less than Rs. 1.5 lakhs. Under FAME II, the Government of India gives a subsidy of Rs 55,500 to Ather, while the state subsidy in Delhi is Rs 18,300.

If the price of Ather 450S is Rs 1.5 lakh, then after subsidy the price will be around Rs 76,000. This price is almost around the Activa. At this price, Ather's scooter will be able to compete with Activa.
