PM Modi remembered Kutch's severe earthquake, mentioned 'Bhunga' houses in discussion with NDRF

Addressing the National Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction program, PM Narendra Modi has asked to adjust the old and new system of the country.

New Delhi. PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the third session of the National Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (NPDRR) on Friday . This session by the NDRF team has been organized on the theme 'Creating local change in a changing climate'. During the inauguration of the session, PM Modi addressed the NDRF jawans present. During this, PM Modi said, the whole world has appreciated the efforts of the Indian team in the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.

During this, PM Modi also said that there is a need to enrich local construction material and construction technology with today's technology. PM Modi also honored the winners of the Subhash Chandra Bose Aapda Prabandhan Puraskar in his speech. This year Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA) and Lunglei Fire Station Mizoram have been the winners of this award.

PM Modi has praised both these institutions. PM Modi said, the Odisha State Disaster Management Authority has been doing excellent work during various disasters from cyclone to tsunami. Similarly, Lunglei Fire Station in Mizoram worked tirelessly to contain the forest fire and saved the entire area as well as prevented the fire from spreading.

PM Modi has congratulated all the colleagues working in these two institutions for their excellent work. Talking on the theme of this program, PM Modi said, 'India's introduction to this subject is very old in a way. Because it has been an integral part of our tradition. Even today when we see the ancient cities, this element is clearly visible. In this country, the system related to disaster management has always been local, the solutions have been local, the strategy has also been local.

PM Modi recalled the earthquake in Kutch, Gujarat while discussing local measures to deal with natural calamities. During this, he said, 'The houses in which the people of Kutch live are called Bhunga, they are mudhouses. We know that Kutch in Gujarat was the epicenter of the great earthquake in the beginning of this century. This severe earthquake did not have any effect on the Bhunga houses. There are many lessons related to technology in this.
