BAN vs ENG: Bangladesh beat England for the first time in T20, leading batsman scored a stormy half-century

England suffered a 6-wicket defeat in the first match of the three-match T20 series (BAN vs ENG) on Bangladesh tour. Batting first, England scored 156/6 in 20 overs, in reply Bangladesh scored 158/4 in 18 overs. Bangladesh's Najmul Hossain Shanto was adjudged player of the match for his brilliant half-century innings.

After winning the toss, Bangladesh gave England a chance to bat first but their decision proved wrong in the first ten overs. For England, the opening pair of Phil Salt and captain Jos Buttler added 80 runs in 10 overs. Nasum Ahmed broke the partnership by dismissing Salt on a personal score of 38. David Malan could not do anything special and kept walking after scoring 4 runs. From here Jos Buttler got the support of Ben Duckett and both took the score to 135. Duckett got out after scoring 20 runs. Butler managed to score a half-century and played an innings of 67 runs. The last over saw disappointing batting from England and the team could not score as big as expected. Hasan Mahmood took maximum two wickets from Bangladesh.

Chasing the target, Bangladesh debutant Ronnie Talukdar along with Liton added 33 runs in 3.3 overs. Talukdar was dismissed after scoring 21 runs in 14 balls. Liton Das was run by Jofra Archer on a personal score of 12. From here, Najmul Hossain Shanto and Tauheed Hriday together took the score past hundred. Tauheed went on to score 108 after scoring 24 runs. Najmul managed to complete his half-century and was dismissed for 112 after scoring 51 runs in 30 balls. Captain Shakib scored 34 not out and Afif Hossain scored 15 runs to give his team a memorable victory.
