Prime Minister Narendra Modi is arriving on Monday to inaugurate a unique airport in Karnataka. Unique because the design of this airport is like a 'lotus' flower. There are assembly elections in Karnataka this year, that's why this fifth visit of PM Modi to Karnataka is considered very important. Well let us tell you the many features of this airport.

This airport with the design of 'Kamal' has been built in Shivamogga of the state. Along with the inauguration of Shivamogga Airport, PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone of various development projects in Belagavi.

Airport built at a cost of Rs 450 crore

According to PTI news, after the inauguration, PM Modi will visit Shivamogga airport and inspect it. This new airport has been developed at a cost of about Rs 450 crore. The passenger terminal building of this lotus-shaped airport can handle 300 passengers per hour. This airport is likely to improve connectivity and accessibility to Shivamogga and other nearby areas.

New rail line will also start in future

During his visit, PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone of two railway projects Shikaripura-Ranibennur New Railway Line and Kotagunguru Railway Coaching Depot. The Shivamogga-Shikaripura-Ranibennur new railway line will be developed at a cost of Rs 990 crore. It will provide better connectivity to the Malnad area with the Bangalore-Mumbai main line.

While the Kotaganguru Railway Coaching Depot in Shivamogga city will be developed at a cost of over Rs 100 crore to facilitate starting of new trains from Shivamogga and maintenance facilities in Bengaluru and Mysuru.

Road projects will be inaugurated

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of several road development projects worth more than Rs 215 crore. This includes construction of a new bypass road connecting Bendoor-Ranibennur to Shikaripura town, widening of NH-169A from Megaravalli to Agumbe and construction of a new bridge at Bharathipura in Tirthahalli taluk.

Election gift box will open!

The poll-bound state of Karnataka will also get multi-village schemes worth over Rs 950 crore under the Jal Jeevan Mission. PM Modi will unveil and lay the foundation stone. This includes inauguration of a scheme for Gautampura and 127 other villages and laying of foundation stones for three other schemes to be developed at a total cost of over Rs 860 crore.

The four schemes aim to provide functional household piped water connections, which is expected to benefit a total of over 4.4 lakh people. 44 smart city projects worth over Rs 895 crore will also be inaugurated in Shivamogga.
