There is a mythological story about Maa Lakshmi and Owl.

Diwali 2022: Diwali is celebrated every year on Kartik Amavasya, the festival of lights and enthusiasm and this year on 24 October 2022, the festival of Diwali is on Monday. In Hindu scriptures, Diwali is considered to be the period of worship of Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth. On this day, special worship is done to Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Ganesha and Kuber for the attainment of wealth and splendor. In Hinduism, all the deities have their own importance and their own vehicle. As Garuda is the vehicle of Lord Vishnu, so Nandi is the vehicle of Shiva. In the same way, the vehicle of Maa Lakshmi ji is an owl, but do you know why Maa Lakshmi ji chose an owl as her vehicle? Pandit Indramani Ghansyal tells that the legend behind Lakshmi ji riding an owl is prevalent.

Maa Lakshmi and owl ride
According to religious texts, once all the gods and goddesses came to roam the earth. At that time all the animals and birds requested the deities to choose them as their vehicle and do charity. All the gods chose their vehicle, but Mother Lakshmi remained confused for a long time. Maa Lakshmi started considering whom to choose for her vehicle.

In the meantime, there was a dispute between all the animals and birds, then Mother Lakshmi ji calmed everyone down and said that on every Kartik Amavasya, she would come to roam the earth, then she would choose her vehicle. After this, when the day of Kartik Amavasya came, all the animals and birds started looking for the path of Goddess Lakshmi. But on the dark night of the new moon, everyone was unable to see. In such a situation, when Mother Lakshmi came in the night, the owl saw it with her sharp eyes and reached near her. The owl became an example of the fact that when it is very dark, then only the extraordinary ability to see and understand things comes in handy.

Then the owl pleaded with Goddess Lakshmi to make her own vehicle. On which the mother was pleased and accepted the owl as her vehicle. In this way the owl became the vehicle of Goddess Lakshmi. Even in the scriptures, the owl has been considered a bird with a special ability and a unique attitude, which is a sign of positive thinking in negative situations.
