The outbreak of monkeypox virus is increasing, cases were reported in children for the first time in America

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said in a statement that both cases of monkeypox in children were likely the result of household infection. The agency said that the children are in good health and are being treated.

Washington. The outbreak of monkeypox is spreading very fast all over the world. Health officials in the US said that for the first time in the country, cases of monkeypox have been identified in children. One child is a resident of California and the other child is a newborn who is not a resident of the United States. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said in a statement that both cases of monkeypox in children were likely the result of household infection. The agency said that the children are in good health and are being treated.

According to a news in Hindustan Times, a medical expert said that 99% of the 2,891 confirmed monkeypox cases in the US have been found in men who have sex with men. But there are also a handful of women and transgender men who have been infected with monkeypox. It is no surprise that cases of monkeypox have been reported in children. But to date, there is no evidence that the virus has spread outside communities of gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men.

Significantly, monkeypox causes flu-like symptoms and sores form on the skin. Monkeypox outbreaks are widespread among men who have sex with men. Mainly considered an endemic disease of West and Central Africa, monkeypox is now spreading rapidly outside the countries of the region. The disease is mainly spread through close contact. So far this year, more than 14,000 cases of monkeypox have been reported in more than 60 countries and five deaths have occurred in Africa.

While the White House's COVID-19 response coordinator Dr. Ashish Jha said that the government has distributed 300,000 doses of monkeypox vaccine and is working to expedite shipments of 786,000 more doses from Denmark. He said there is already enough vaccine to deliver the first dose of vaccine to more than half of the eligible population in New York City and more than 70% of the eligible population in Washington DC.
