Sawan Somvar 2021: Today is the second Monday of Sawan. Due to the placement of Kritika Nakshatra, its importance has increased even more. Devotees are offering prayers today to please Lord Shiva and get his blessings. Along with this, the worship of Mother Parvati will also be very fruitful. On this auspicious occasion, let us know how many types of Shivling are there and what is the law of worshiping them? Mahadev is the only god whose worship is considered more fruitful in the form of a linga than in the form of an embodiment. This is the reason why Lord Shiva resides in the form of Linga in the temples.
According to Shiva Purana, one should always face north while worshiping Shivling, because by standing or sitting in the east direction, worshiping Shivling in front of Shiva. The part is obstructed which is not auspicious. It is said that worshiping Goddess Parvati while sitting or standing towards the north is said to insult Goddess Parvati as it falls to the left of Shiva where Goddess Parvati is situated. Therefore, sitting in the south direction, facing the front, that is, facing north, one should worship the Shivling. By doing this, the devotee gets the blessings of Mother Parvati and Bholenath.
