IPL 2021: Kolkata Knight Riders Beat Punjab Kings By 5 Wickets

This is KKR's second win in this tournament. Kolkata achieved the target of 124 runs from Punjab with 20 balls after losing five wickets. For him, apart from Morgan, Rahul Tripathi played a crucial innings of 41 runs. Punjab, captained by KL Rahul, scored 123 for nine wickets after losing the toss and batting first. If the team could reach triple digits, then its credit goes to Chris Jordan, who scored 30 runs in 18 balls with the help of three sixes in the last minute.

Famous Krishna was the most successful bowler of KKR. He took three wickets for 30 runs while Sunil Narine (two for 22) and Pat Cummins (two for 31 from three overs) took two wickets each. Young Shivam Mavi (1 for 13) and Varun Chakraborty (1 for 24) also bowled tightly, this being KKR's second win in six matches. He has come at number five in the points table. At the same time, Punjab suffered a fourth defeat in six matches. He is now at number six.

KKR also has a bad start

Kolkata also had a poor start chasing the target. He lost three wickets in the first three overs. Shubman Gill and Nitish Rana's poor form continued. Rana was already out in the first over without opening the account. He catches Shah Rukh Khan on a full toss by Moises Henriques. Shubman tried to return to form with two fours but was found in front of the wickets on a brilliant ball from Mohammed Shami. Sunil Naren, who was sent above to make fast runs, also could not do anything. Ravi Bishnoi ended his innings with a brilliant catch. Arshdeep Singh got this wicket.

After this, Rahul Tripathi (41) and captain ON Morgan handled the innings. Both shared a 66-run partnership for the fourth wicket. During this time, where Tripathi scored fast runs, Morgan took one end. With the help of seven fours in 32 balls, he scored an innings of 41 runs. He became a victim of Deepak Hooda. Andre Russell hit two fours but in the attempt of a suicide run, he was run out on the direct throw of Arshadip Singh. In the end, Morgan returned unbeaten after scoring 40 runs off 40 balls with four fours and two sixes, while former captain Dinesh Karthik scored 12 not out off six balls. He planted the winning chowka.

Punjab's batsmen disappointed

Earlier, the Kolkata Knight Riders bowlers showed Punjab bowling at 123 on nine wickets by presenting the best bowling on a favorable pitch. Punjab's team looked in good condition in the early overs and after that they lost successive wickets. After losing the toss, KL Rahul (19), along with Mayank Agarwal (31 runs from 34 balls), was leading the innings efficiently, then the Punjab Kings captain hoisted the next ball in the air after hitting a six over Cummins but This time instead of crossing the boundary line, she went into the hands of Naren. Mavi, who started bowling, bowled tight and took the wicket of explosive Chris Gayle who could not even open the account. Krishna did not allow Deepak Hooda to run, as Punjab, who scored 37 runs for one wicket in the powerplay, soon rose to 42 for three.

Jordan hit three sixes in the last over

Agarwal hit a six off Krishna's ball to take the score to 50 in the 10th over, but Naren's short pitch was caught at deep midwicket in an attempt to pick up the ball and shock Punjab's hopes of a comeback. Narayan bowled Moises Henriques (two) in the next over with a turn-taking ball. Nicholas Pooran (19) had a great chance to prove himself but could not take advantage of this and was bowled in an attempt to sweep the ball of Varun Chakraborty. The young Shah Rukh Khan could also leave his impact in the death overs but he too could only score 13 runs. Jordan hit two sixes in the last over of Krishna's innings after hitting a six over Cummins before being dismissed.
