On this day, India gave Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram full state status, know why China's tension increased

Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram are two states in the North East of India that have been a major part of the country's security strategy.
On 20 February 1987, both of them got the status of 23rd and 24th state of India. With the 53rd amendment of the Indian Constitution in 1986, Arunachal and Mizoram attained the status of the entire state of India.

This was a decision by India which had upset China a lot. China had never expected Arunachal Pradesh to get the status of the entire state. Know today the history of these two states, which has a special relationship with China.

China's eyes on Arunachal Pradesh

Arunachal Pradesh is a state adjacent to Tibet. Tibet was under British rule until 1913–15. Then when the McMahon Line was determined in 1938, India and Tibet separated. China took possession of Tibet in 1951. He still declares Arunachal Pradesh as Southern Tibet.

In March 1959, the Dalai Lama reached Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh from Lhasa. When China announced in 1959 that it would take over Tibet, a letter was sent from India.

India offered China to intervene in the Tibet issue. China believed at that time that India had become the biggest threat to his rule in Tibet. This was an important reason for the war between China and India in the year 1962.

China claims 90,000 square feet

Last year, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh had told in Parliament that China asserts its claim on 90,000 square kilometers of land in Arunachal Pradesh. Arunachal Pradesh falls in the eastern sector of the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

China changed its map in May 2020. In this new map, China showed Arunachal Pradesh, the major state of North East of India, within its international boundaries. An updated version of this new map of China has been released by Sky Map.

China upset with development work in Arunachal

China has since settled its border dispute with Russia and other countries of Central Asia. But no one is mentioned in the new map. Infrastructure is being developed rapidly in the entire North-East including Arunachal Pradesh.

In April, the Border Road Organization (BRO) completed the construction of the Daporijo Bridge over the Subansiri River in Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh within just 27 days after the lockdown. Even today, when a foreign diplomat goes to Arunachal Pradesh, China gets chilly.

Mizoram composed of Chin people of Myanmar

Mizoram is the state of India that falls in the most deserted part of the North-East. The history of this state is connected to the Chin people, i.e. those people who came to Mizoram from the Chin state of Myanmar. The history of the arrival of Chin refugees dates back to the 19th century when British rule took over many parts of Myanmar.

Now in Mizoram, mixed population of people of Chin Hills and Bangladesh can be seen. The state underwent major changes at the religious, political and cultural level during the 20th century. The Mizo tribal people had a large population and these people came out in a big way. Therefore, this state of Mizo people was named Mizoram.

Terrorism was also closely watched

Early documents show that in 1850, Mizoram was the place where a lot of raids were conducted by British military officers. After India's independence, Luhasi Hills district came under the Assam government.

In 1972, the district was declared a Union Territory. In 1987, Mizoram got full statehood. Mizoram is also a state in the North East which has witnessed extremism closely.
