Goods and Services Tax (GST) registration of such taxpayers can now be suspended immediately.
There is a big gap between the sales return i.e. GST R-1 form and the return filed by their supplier.
GST officials are now empowered to curb tax evasion and save revenue The Central Board of Direct Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has introduced standard operating procedure in this regard .

There is a big difference in the information filed

According to the SOP, the officer may immediately cancel the registration of the taxpayer in case of deficiencies indicating violation of GST, Act. Taxpayers can be notified about this on their registered email id. The SOP said that in case there is a big discrepancy between the return filed by the registered person and the supply information in GSTR-1 or the information filed in the return of their suppliers, the registration can be canceled.

Attempted tax evasion

According to SOP, taxpayers can be notified about this in GST Registration Form-17 till the work of Form Registration-31 is made available on the portal in a timely manner. After the taxpayer logs in, you will see a notice about this in the 'View Notice and Order' tab. Notably, GST officials have already stepped up their efforts to curb tax evasion. GST collection has been consistently above Rs 1 lakh crore during the last 4 months. GST collection in January stood at a record high of about Rs 1.20 lakh crore.
