International cricketer refuses to play for the country after 30 matches, You will be surprised to know the reason

Sri Lankan international cricketer Shehan Jayasurya has refused to play cricket on behalf of Sri Lanka.
Only 29-year-old Shehan told Sri Lanka Cricket about his decision, after which the Sri Lankan board informed Shehan about quitting cricket. As an all-rounder, Shehan, who was part of the Sri Lankan team till last year, played 30 international matches for the team. The reason behind Shehan's decision is somewhat surprising. Sri Lanka has refused to play cricket because of settling abroad, not because of injury or opportunity.

The Sri Lankan Board issued a press release on Friday 8 January informing Shehan Jayasuriya's decision. According to the board, Shehan, who represented Sri Lanka in ODIs and T20s, told him that he would not be available to play for his country in domestic or international cricket with immediate effect. Shehan made his international debut for Sri Lanka in 2015 and last played for Sri Lanka last year.

Shehan leaving Sri Lanka and settling in America

The reason behind Shehan's decision to play 30 matches for Sri Lanka is very different and somewhat shocking, which is not usually heard. According to Sri Lankan cricket, Shehan has decided to go to the US and is now living there with his family. Due to this, he has withdrawn his name from Sri Lankan cricket. However, it is not clear whether Shehan will continue playing cricket in America.

Debut in 2015, 30 matches played in 5 years

Shehan made his international debut on 1 August 2015 against Pakistan in a T20 match in Colombo. In the very first match, Shehan showed all-round game and scored 40 runs in 32 balls and also took 1 wicket in bowling. On November 1 of the same year, Shehan also made his ODI debut against West Indies. However, the one-day debut was not as expected and he could not even open the account, but one wicket was needed.

Shehan played his last match for Sri Lanka in March 2020 against the West Indies. Jayasuriya played 18 T20 and 12 ODIs in his nearly 5 and a half years of international career. Together, he scored only 436 runs and was able to take 6 wickets.
