Since then Dulla Bhatti was honored with the title of hero and the trend of telling the story of Dulla Bhatti started on Lohri.
This is how festivals are celebrated
People celebrate Lohri with their family, relatives, close and neighbors. A fire is lit under the open sky at night. People walk around the fire singing traditional songs and telling the story of Dulla Bhatti. Gajak, Revdi, corn, peanuts are offered and then distributed their offerings. The drums dance on the drums. In Punjab, people perform folk dance, bhangra and giddha.

The festival of Lohri is dedicated to the farmers. Traditionally Lohri is a special festival related to the sowing and harvesting of crops. There is also a law to worship the crop on this day.
