Controversy: Nicky Minaj, badly trapped in copyright case, will now pay so many dollars to singer Tracy

Rapper Nicki Minaj will pay singer Tracy Chapman $ 450,000 to end a dispute related to copyright infringement.
Chapman filed a case against Nikki in the year 2018. His allegation was that the rapper allegedly used a part of Chapman's hit song 'Baby, Can I Hold You Tonight' in 1988 in his song 'Sorry'.

According to BBC.com report, even though the song was not officially released, it was leaked in some way from radio DJ Funkmaster Flex and went viral on sight. Chapman accused Nikki of sharing the song with Flex. Although both of them refused to accept this fact.

Later it was also heard that Nikki and her record label had also asked Chapman for permission to use her song, but the singer flatly refused. Chapman's lawyer said on this that he has a blanket policy against giving such permission.

In an earlier judgment on the case, US District Judge Virginia A. Phillips said that it was not wrong for Nicki to be used in the studio with Chapman's song. Nicky's lawyer also argued Once the license was spoken to its owner, the artist should be allowed to write and record the sample music without worrying.

However, the judge then set up a trial to find out how Nikki's song leaked and how it was distributed and whether it really violates copyright. However, the trial did not take place later, as Chapman accepted Nikki's offer and now according to documents released by the California Central District Court under this agreement, Nikki has to pay Chapman his fee and legal fees to date. .
