Apple removes 39,000 games from China store

Apple on Thursday removed 39,000 game apps from its China store in a single day of major action.
This is the first time Apple has removed such a large number of apps in a single day. It set a December 31 license deadline for all game publishers. The move is prompted by Chinese authorities to ban unlicensed games.

Since then, Apple has removed a total of more than 46,000 apps from its store. The removed games also include Ubisoft and NBA 2K20, according to research firm Kimai.

Only 74 of the Hypad games remained in store

As a result of the move, only 74 of the 1,500 highest-paying games on the Apple Store are left. Apple later extended the deadline to December 31.
