UIDAI gives users a great feature! Now you can update this information in the Aadhaar card sitting at home, here is the complete process

There is big news for Aadhaar cardholders. UIDAI, the authority that oversees Aadhaar- linked services, has once again made it possible for citizens to update demographic details at home. As a result, Aadhaar card holders will now be able to update their name, address, date of birth and gender in Aadhaar through UIDAI 's website online .

You will be able to update the address at home

UIDAI, meanwhile, has discontinued online updates to all other demographic details support, except for addresses. This means that only citizens can update their address at home. They have to go to the Aadhaar Center for updating the remaining demographic details and biometric details, but now the Aadhaar address as well as the name, date of birth and gender will be updated online.

How to get updated online

To update name, address, date of birth and gender online on UIDAI website, you have to go to 'My Aadhar' section and click on 'Update Demographics Data Online' in the 'Update Your Aadhaar' section. Then a new page will open. If you wish, you can visit https://ssup.uidai.gov.in/ssup/ directly. Remember, your mobile number must be registered in Aadhar Card for any information related to Aadhar Card to be updated online. Because, OTP will come on during this process.

  • Click on 'Proceed to Update Support' on the portal https://ssup.uidai.gov.in/ssup/.
  • Enter the 12 digit base number on the newly opened page.
  • Enter the captcha code and click on Send OTP.
  • Submit the OTP to the registered mobile number in the space provided.
  • Now on the newly opened page you will find two options- 1. Update of geographical details including address along with supporting document proof 2. Address update through address validation letter
  • Click on 'Update Demographics Data' to update someone with name, date of birth, gender, address along with document proof.
  • Then you have to choose the details that you want to update. The next process will then be completed.

Remember this point

Remember, half the name can be updated twice in life, gender once, date of birth once. You will need to upload a color scanned copy of the valid document proof attached to the details you want to update. However, no proof is required for gender updation. If there is no valid address proof in the name of the Aadhaar card holder, he can update the address using the address validation letter. A complete list of supporting documents is available on the UIDAI website.
