Two airbags will be made mandatory from April 1 for the safety of those sitting in the front of the car

New Delhi:
Airbags may now be mandatory in the front two seats of new cars from April, making airbags mandatory in cars coming from June 1. A proposal in this regard has been prepared by the Ministry of Roads and Transport on Monday.

According to the ministry, the rule will be applied to all cars, the decision has been taken keeping in mind the safety of passengers. Union Roads and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said the government did not want to compromise with the safety of passengers. Airbags were made mandatory for drivers from 1 July 2019.

Passengers sitting next to the driver during a serious accident are more likely to be seriously injured as the front seats have airbags only towards the driver. With this in mind, this important decision has been taken.

The first report was released on December 18 by our correspondent Times of India (TOI) that the government was considering making the necessary changes to the vehicle.

Preparations have been going on for the last three years that important steps need to be taken for the safety of the occupants of the car. But then last year airbags were made mandatory only for the driver's seat.

This was considered by the ministry last year with the safety of passengers in mind, after which an important decision has been taken this year. In which the process of making airbag mandatory for the passenger sitting in the front with the driver is also being carried out.
