New Delhi: India is one of the few countries in the world to have isolated the Novel Corona virus from the Kovid-19 epidemic. Dr. MV Padma Srivastava, Chief Neuroscientist, Delhi-based All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), said that India is now on the path to developing a cheaper vaccine.
India Biotech and ICMR's Corona vaccine
Dr Srivastava took part in the third phase of covacin trial last week. Kovacin is a corona vaccine native to India, developed by Bharat Biotech, a pharmaceutical company, with the help of the Indian Council of Medical Research. Dr. "I took the first dose of covacin at the Delhi AIIMS last Thursday," Srivastava told the Times of India. The second dose will be given after 28 days.
"There are no side effects of the vaccine,"
said Dr Srivastava, 55, who has not had any side effects since taking the vaccine. Notably, other volunteers involved in the trial recently spoke of side effects. AIIMS plans to enroll more than 1,000 people in the third phase of the covacin trial. Sources said 40-50 volunteers have been registered, who have been given the first dose.
