New Delhi: Ericsson has released its latest Ericsson Mobility report. The report says that by the year 2026, 4 out of 10 smartphones will have 5G connectivity. The report also said that by the end of this year, 2020, more than 1 billion people will have access to 5G coverage.
According to the 5G report, 15% of the world's population will have access to 100G or 15% of the world's total population. This does not mean that 100 million people will use 5G connectivity but it does mean that 15% of the world's population will live in an area with 5G connectivity.
The report also claims that by the year 2026, 60 per cent of the population will be in the 5G coverage area, while by this time 5G subscriptions could reach 3.5 billion i.e. 350 crores.
How many people in India have 5G?
According to an Ericsson report, 27% of total smartphone users in India will have 5G subscriptions by the year 2026. That means after 6 years the LTE network will be in India. About 63 percent of users will have an LTE network subscription. Internet usage has increased significantly in India due to working from home.
