Kolkata: Veteran actor of Bengali films Soumitra Chatterjee lost the battle with life. For the past several days, his condition was extremely critical. The doctors could not save them even after being hospitalized for 40 days.
On Sunday, he breathed his last at 12.15 pm at Bellevue Hospital. For the last few days, the team of doctors was engaged in the last attempt to save them. Soumitra Chatterjee was placed on the life support system for the past several days. He was not responding in any way.
Expressing concern over the health of Saumitra Chatterjee, the doctors had said that despite all efforts, his physiological system is not responding. His condition was worse than before. He was put on all kinds of support and was battling for life.
The treating physicians had said that we are sorry that they are not responding. We are making our last attempt. Even his family had assumed that his health was not going to improve.
It is noteworthy that Soumitra Chatterjee was admitted to the hospital on 6 October after being hit by the corona virus. On 14 October, he was found to be corona negative. But during this time he was not discharged from the hospital due to other health problems. He was struggling with all health related problems.
Yesterday, Dr. Arindam Kar, in charge of the team treating Saumitra, had said that 40 days of fighting was not enough. We need miracles now. Soumitra Chatterjee, 85, had to provide a life support system. He is nominally conscious.
Significantly, Soumitra Chatterjee was fighting a war with life for the last long time. Meanwhile, he has now passed away. In such a situation, there is a wave of mourning in the Bollywood industry.
