Arnab Goswami shifted to Taloba jail

 Recently, Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami was arrested on charges of abetment to suicide. On Sunday, he was shifted from the Quarantine Center in Alibaug to Taloba Jail. Arnab Goswami was taken to Alibaug after he was arrested from his lower Parel residence in Mumbai, where the Chief Judicial Magistrate sent him and two other accused to judicial custody till 18 November.

Confirming this, Taloba Jail SP Kaustubh Kurlekar said, "They will be kept in a quarantine center inside the jail for a few days before shifting to barracks." Arnab Goswami was arrested on November 4 along with two other accused - Feroze Sheikh and Nitesh Sarada. This case is of the year 2018. An interior designer committed suicide by accusing the three of not paying money.

The designer alleged that he set up Republic TV's studio for Goswami. Goswami did not pay lakhs of rupees for it. After his arrest, Arnab Goswami was produced before the Alibaug Magistrate Court on the same day, from where he was remanded to 14 days of judicial custody till 18 November.

The editor of Republic TV was first taken to the Alibaug police station, from where he was shifted to the Alibaug Primary School. After staying here for four days, he has now been shifted to Taloba Jail. The notice issued on the website of the High Court states that the bench will give its verdict after 3 pm on 9 November.

The High Court on Saturday said that till the matter is pending, the petitioners are not barred from going to the concerned lower court for regular bail. The court had said that if such petitions are filed, then the sessions court should decide on hearing them within four days of filing the petition.
