Vice Chancellor of Delhi University suspended by President Ramnath Kovind with immediate effect

New Delhi:
Delhi University Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Tyagi was on Wednesday suspended on the orders of President Ramnath Kovind. According to education ministry officials, the president has also directed an inquiry into allegations of negligence in complying with Tyagi's duties. The move comes at a time when power struggles are raging at the central university.

A ministry official said President Ramnath Kovinde, the university's visiting president, had suspended Tyagi for a fair investigation into the allegations. So that they do not tamper with the evidence or influence the witnesses.

The official said, "All the orders given by Yogesh Tyagi, who is on leave at the medical ground, have been revoked. This order will be considered null. ' Tyagi has been on leave since he was admitted to the AIIMS on July 2. The government had on July 17 given Pro-VC PC Joshi the charge of vice-chancellor until Tyagi returned from leave.
