The IT department raided the hawala operator's premises and found cash in the cupboard


New Delhi: The
 Income-tax department has raided the premises of several hawala operators and counterfeit bill makers in the country and seized jewelery and cash worth Rs 5.26 crore. The CBDT said raids were carried out at 42 places in Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Goa on Monday.

Officials said action has been taken against a large network of people operating entry operations (operations like hawala) and making more money through fake bills. The CBDT said in a statement that Rs 2.37 crore in cash and jewelery worth Rs 2.89 crore were seized during the raid by the Income-tax department. Information about 17 bank lockers has also been received but has not been investigated yet.

In many states, including Delhi-Haryana, the Income Tax department is raiding 42 locations of entry operator Sanjay Jain and his beneficiaries. The Income-tax department raided the premises of many hawala operators and counterfeit bill makers. About Rs 2.37 crore in cash and jewelery worth Rs 2.89 crore were seized from them. According to ANI, the Income-tax department has raided 42 locations of entry operator Sanjay Jain and his beneficiaries in Delhi-NCR, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Punjab and Goa. The CBDT said further investigations were underway. Evidence has been found exposing the networks of entry operators, intermediaries, cash managers, beneficiaries and companies.
