Russia approves second corona vaccine The vaccine was also given to PM

Moscow: Russia has approved a second vaccine of Kovid-19 after an initial trial.
President Vladimir Putin made the announcement at a government meeting on Wednesday. The vaccine has been developed by the Vector Institute in Siberia and completed early-stage human trials last month. However the results have not yet been published and large-scale testing, known as the third phase, has not yet begun.

"We need to increase production of the first and second vaccines," Putin said in a statement broadcast on Russian state television. We will continue to collaborate with our foreign partners and expand our vaccine abroad, this is a vaccine called Peptide based EpiVacCorona. Russia ranks second in terms of obtaining a license for use. A placebo-controlled trial was performed on 100 volunteers aged 18 and 60 in Novosibirsk.

The TASS news agency quoted consumer protection watchdog Rospotrebnadzor, which oversees the organization, as saying that a large-scale human trial of Apivaccorona was expected to begin in November or December. The trial is expected to involve 30,000 volunteers, according to the Interfax news agency. The first 5000 will be residents of Siberia.

The Sputnik V, previously developed by the Gemalya Institute in Moscow, was licensed for domestic use in August. The vaccine was also registered before the third stage tests, based on the adenovirus vector. It is currently being tested on 40,000 people in Moscow.
