Today, with the blessings of Maa Ambe, three important projects related to the development of Gujarat are beginning. Today, farmers are getting the Suryodaya Yojana, Girnar ropeway and Gujarat's large and modern cardiac hospital. These three are in a way a symbol of Gujarat's strength, devotion and health. Many congratulations to the people of Gujarat for all these!
Brothers and sisters, Gujarat has always been a land of people with extraordinary abilities. Many sons of Gujarat, from Pujya Bapu and Sardar Patel, have given social and economic leadership to the country. I am happy that Gujarat has again come up with a new initiative through Kisan Suryodaya Yojana. After Sujalam-Suflam and Sauni Yojana, now the Suryoday Yojana will prove to be a milestone for the farmers of Gujarat.
The need of farmers of Gujarat has been given the highest priority in the Kisan Suryodaya Yojana. The work that was being done in Gujarat for years in the field of electricity, has become the biggest foundation of this scheme. There was a time when there was a lot of power shortage in Gujarat, giving 24 hours electricity was a big challenge. Children's education, farmers 'irrigation, industries' earnings, everything was affected. ACE worked on mission mode to produce all types of capacities, from power generation to transmission.
Gujarat was the first state in the country to have a comprehensive policy for solar energy a decade ago. When the solar power plant in Patan was inaugurated in 2010, no one imagined that one day India would show the world the path of One Sun, One World, One Grade. Today, India is among the world's leading countries in terms of both production and use of solar power. In the last 6 years, the country has reached number 5 in the world in terms of solar energy production and is growing rapidly.
Brothers and sisters, who are not connected to villages, are not involved in farming, very few of them will know that farmers get electricity for irrigation mostly at night. In such a situation, farmers have to stay awake overnight during irrigation. In areas such as Junagadh and Gir Somnath, where the farmer sunrise scheme is being started, there is also a high risk of wild animals. Therefore, Kisan Sarvodaya Yojana will not only provide security to the farmers of the state but will also bring a new dawn in their lives. When farmers will get three phase electricity from sunrise to 9 am instead of night, then this is a new dawn.
I would also congratulate the Government of Gujarat that this work is being done by creating a completely new capacity of transmission, without affecting the rest of the system. Under this scheme, laying of about three and a half thousand circuit kilometers of new transmission lines will be done in the next 2-3 years. I have been told that this scheme will be implemented in more than a thousand villages in the coming few days. Even more of these villages are in tribal dominated areas. When this scheme expands across Gujarat, it will completely change the lives of millions of farmers, their everyday lives.
When this corona began, more than 45 lakh people had already visited the Statue of Unity. In such a short time, 45 lakh people are a very big thing. Now that the Statue of Unity has been reopened, this number is increasing rapidly again. Similarly, I give a small example - Kankaria lake in Ahmedabad. There was a time there was no passing, the other took the path. Renovated him a bit, made arrangements with a little tourist in mind, and what is the situation today - the number of visitors there is now reaching 75 lakhs annually.
In the middle of Ahmedabad city alone, this place has become a cause of great attraction for 75 lakh, middle class and lower class families and has also become the reason for the bread and livelihood of many people. All these changes also help in increasing the number of tourists and increase the income of the local people. And tourism is an area where there is least capital and more and more people get employment.
