Pakistan now bans tiktok, calling it 'immoral and vulgar video'

New Delhi short video making app
TikTok has been banned in Pakistan. The reason for banning the app has been cited by Pakistan as 'immoral and vulgar' videos appearing on it. Pakistan expressed concern over some of the videos appearing on Bytedance's TikTok app, which could have a detrimental effect on its society.

A statement from the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority on Friday said the app had been receiving warnings for several months. According to the statement, Tiktok did not follow the instructions and this is the reason why it has been decided to block this app across the country. It said that numerous complaints related to videos were coming from various sections of the society.

Many Chinese apps, including TikTok, have been banned in India due to cyber security and privacy of users' data. However, the reason for the ban from Pakistan is not data related. The TikTok app needs a mechanism to review and monitor videos and talk to the app about it, the statement said. According to Sensor Tower, a

analytics firm in Pakistan, the app has been installed 43 million times in Pakistan alone. Pakistan was the 12th largest market for TikTok in terms of number of installations. Pakistan says the videos being shared on TikTalk were having a negative impact and the app had been given prior notice. TickTalk is already being targeted in the global market for its China connections.
