IPL 2020: Kolkata Knight Riders Beat Chennai Super Kings By 10 Runs

The Kolkata Knight Riders beat Chennai Super Kings by 10 runs in the 13th season of the IPL T20 cricket tournament on Wednesday thanks to a superb performance from the bowlers after an aggressive half-century by opener Rahul Tripathi.
The target was 168 against Chennai. In reply, opener Shane Watts hit a superb half-century, but Chennai could only manage 157 for five in 20 overs. At one point Chennai looked set to win the match but in the final overs the Kolkata bowlers bowled tight. Earlier, Kolkata scored 167 runs in 20 overs with the help of Rahul Tripathi's 81-run innings.

Chennai's batting was good in response to the target of 168 runs. Opener Shane Watts hit 50 off 40 balls with the help of six fours and a six. Then Ambati Rayudu also contributed 30 off 27 balls. But after these two batsmen were dismissed, the Kolkata bowlers retaliated and did not allow the Chennai batsmen to score easily.

Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni once again failed to play the role of finisher. Dhoni was dismissed for 12 off 11 balls. While Sam Karan also scored 17 runs to collect the pavilion. Kedar Jadhav batted slowly in the final overs. He scored an unbeaten seven off 12 balls. Ravindra Jadeja did an amazing job but his batting was not enough to give the team a victory. He hit an unbeaten 21 off 8 balls with three fours and a six.

Earlier, opener Rahul Tripathi's superb batting helped Kolkata Knight Riders set a target of 168 against Chennai Super Kings in the 21st match of IPL13. Rahul Tripathi, who was promoted in the opening over, played an important innings of 81 runs but could not take the team to a big score as he was not supported by anyone from the other side. Due to this, the team lost 10 wickets at the end of 20 overs and managed to score only 167 runs. After Tripathi, Sunil Narine scored the most 17 runs. Shardul Thakur and Karan Sharma were the most successful bowlers for CSK and both took 2-2 wickets. Deepak Chahar proved to be extremely costly and gave up 47 runs in 4 overs without taking any wicket.

Earlier, Kolkata captain Dinesh Karthik decided to bat first after winning the toss. Rahul Tripathi, who was promoted in the opening, met Shubhaman Gill and gave the team a good start. The duo put together a 37-run partnership in 4.2 overs but the rest of the batsmen could not take advantage of it and failed to make a big score. Tripathi, on the other hand, fulfilled his responsibility and scored 81 off 51 balls with the help of 8 fours and 3 sixes. If he had the support of someone from the other side, he would have taken the team to a big score.

After Tripathi, Sunil Narayan scored the most 17 runs. Players like Nitish Rana (9), Eoin Morgan (7), Andre Russell (2) could not even go into the double figure as a result of which KKR could only make 167 runs.
