iPhone users will have to pay extra money for Zest, Apps

New Delhi: There is
bad news for Apple iPhone users. Apple users will soon have to pay more for apps and in-app subscriptions. The Apple App Store is going to increase its charges in 6 countries like India, Indonesia, Brazil, Colombia, South Africa and Russia. Apple said in a blog post that the company had to take the step because of the tax increase. In India, Internet companies have been taxed at 2 per cent in addition to 18 per cent GST.

Equalization levy is a type of direct tax levied from foreign tech companies on earnings made through digital transactions. Similarly, developers located outside the country in Indonesia will have to pay a new tax of 10 per cent.

Apple said, 'When tax or foreign exchange rates change, sometimes we need to update prices on the App Store. Over the next few days, prices for apps and in-app purchases (excluding auto-renewal subscriptions) on the App Store will rise in Brazil, Colombia, India, Indonesia, Russia and South Africa.

The company said users will have to go to the Pricing and Availability section in the My Apps of the Apple developer portal to find out the new prices. However, it is not clear whether Apple will increase the prices of its services in India - Apple Music, Apple TV + and iCloud.
