Fake TRP case: Mumbai Police declares Republic Channel owners wanted

MUMBAI:
Nine people have been arrested so far by the Crime Intelligence Unit (CIU) in a fake TRP case, but the CIU on Saturday declared the owner and operator of the Republic Channel wanted for the first time. The CIU has also declared the owners and operators of Hindi channel News Nation and Mahamuvi channel wanted. Only the owners of Marathi channels and box cinemas have been arrested in this case. Now there is a direct charge on five channels.

The whole incident came to light when the CIU produced two accused Ramji Verma and Dinesh Vishwakarma, who were arrested on October 20, for remand in Killa court on Saturday. In the same remand application, the CIU has declared five accused wanted. It has Abhishek Kolwane's name on the first number, while on the second, third, fourth, the owner / administrator of Republic, News Nation and Mahamuvi channels are written. The CIU has kept suspense over who owns them.

The fifth name in the list of wanted accused has been written as Rocky. The CIU can now send summons to its owners and operators after the names of Republic and other channels appeared in the copy of the remand. Only Marathi and box cinema owners have been arrested in this case. So it is so certain that the owner of the Republic and other accused channels could also be arrested.

Arnab Goswami, the editor-in-chief of the Republic TV channel, was earlier scheduled to appear before the ACP of the Worli division on Saturday in connection with the case. He was seen outside the NM Joshi Marg police station on Saturday in support of his journalist colleagues, against whom an FIR was registered by the Special Branch of Mumbai Police on Friday and a summons was sent on Saturday, but Arnab did not appear before the ACP of Worli Division in the case.
