New Delhi: There was a massive uproar in the Rajya Sabha on Sunday, where the government wanted to pass the Agriculture Bills, while Trinamool Congress MP Derek O'Brien tore the documents and forced the house to be adjourned for some time due to opposition uproar.
The aggressive Derek went to the Chairman's seat and tore the documents in front of him, calling the bill a black law. He was also heard saying, you cannot do this for a chair.
Despite repeated requests, many members of the opposition party reached Vail. Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad demanded that the discussion continue on Monday.
Azad said, to decide on this, we should go with the consensus of the members and not the ruling party.
Despite being reminded of the infectious nature of the current pandemic coronavirus by Harivansh, Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, many opposition leaders did not leave and shouted slogans in the well.
Before the uproar, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar assured the House, the MSP would not be touched at any cost. It is not just the bill, in the last 6 years, several steps have been taken to double the income of farmers. There is no doubt that farmers will continue to take advantage of MSP.
However, opposition members under the leadership of Trinamool MP Derek continued to create ruckus. Due to this, the proceedings of the House were adjourned for a while.
