Tripura: Transport by water route between India and neighboring Bangladesh has also started. There are now water vessels plying between Sonamura in Tripura and Daudkandi in Bangladesh. Let us tell you that on 3 September the ship left for Bangladesh with consignment from Tripura, which will reach Tripura on 5 September tomorrow.
The states of the North-East will benefit from the transport by waterways. This will boost trade between India and Bangladesh. Water vessels will operate between Sonamura in Tripura and Daudkandi in Bangladesh as new water routes between India and Bangladesh become operational. This will increase business between the two countries even more.
Recent bilateral relations between India and Bangladesh, recent connectivity initiatives by both countries in railways and inland waterways will help reduce trade costs. The authority had approved it on 20 May this year and said that India would be inland water transport and trade under protocol between Bangladesh.
Ships from both countries will operate between ports on the prescribed route. This will boost bilateral trade. This will benefit the businessmen and people of both countries will gain mutual trust.
On 3 September, the Bangladeshi ship has landed from Cement Daudkandi, which will reach Sonamura (Tripura) on September 5 by setting a 93-km long route. The Tripura government has already prepared a temporary port with the help of the Ministry of Shipping, where loading of goods will be unloading.
As part of the trial run, 50 metric tons of cement from this water route will reach Sonamura from Dhaka. This will be the first consignment to reach Tripura from Bangladesh through this waterway. To achieve this, Tripura Chief Minister Viplab Deb and India's High Commissioner Rewa Ganguly Das will be present in Bangladesh.
