New Delhi : The Meteorological Department on Sunday expressed the possibility of lightning along with stormy winds in many parts of the country. According to the Meteorological Department, the effect of stormy winds and lightning will continue in Odisha, Gangetic coastal areas of West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, North Karnataka, Telangana, Rayalaseema and coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh and Yanam apart from eastern Uttar Pradesh.
With the storm, the Meteorological Department has also predicted heavy rains in Kerala and West Bengal today. According to the Meteorological Department, Idukki, Kannur and Kasaragod districts of Kerala can be heavy today. A red alert has been sounded in Kerala after receiving information on the forecast of heavy rains and officials are preparing to send the people of the state to a safe place.
It is being told that due to the low pressure area being created in the Bay of Bengal, it is raining in West Bengal today. According to the information, there is a possibility of a low pressure area in the northeast Bay and nearby areas on September 20. And in its effect Kerala is expected to receive rains till 21 September and heavy to very heavy rainfall at some places.
The Meteorological Department has said that the low pressure area is likely to increase to the north in Gangetic West Bengal due to which heavy rains will occur in the coastal areas and adjoining districts of East Midnapore, South and North 24 Parganas, Howrah, Kolkata and Hooghly. Fishermen have been advised not to go to sea from 20 to 22 September.
Significantly, during the Corona period, on May 21, Cyclone Amfan caused great devastation in West Bengal and Orissa. Amfan had disturbed the lives of the people in such a way that people of the affected areas have not emerged even today.
