Taj Mahal, Agra Fort will open for tourists from Monday

India's popular tourist attraction and 17th-century memorial of love, the Taj Mahal and the Agra Fort are set to reopen after six months from Monday. These sites were closed due to the Kovid-19 epidemic.

Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) officials have made all necessary arrangements to reopen the tourist sites.

Said Amar Nath Gupta, caretaker of the Taj Mahal, that sanitization, thermal screening, painting of circles for social distance, etc. have been done at the eastern and western gates. Only 2,500 visitors will be allowed inside a shift and this will only be possible through online booking. Foreigners will have to pay Rs 1,100 for the entry ticket and visitors from the country will pay Rs 50 per ticket. A ticket of 200 rupees is extra to enter the main platform for the view of the tombs of Emperor Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal.

The Health Department has reported 105 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours. A total of 4,706 cases have been registered so far, of which 3,727 have been recovered. The number of active cases is 862, while so far, there have been 117 deaths.

Meanwhile, the University of Agra announced the postponement of the MBBS examination to be held from Monday, after 25 medicos were found positive on Saturday evening. The infected medicos have been admitted to the isolation ward. University officials said the announcement of new dates was made by S.N. This will be done after consultation with the Medical College official.
