New Delhi: The Battle Royale game, a favorite of millions of players in India, has been banned by the Indian government following a Chinese connection. It was later speculated that the game could return to India and gamers would be able to play PUBG in India after breaking the partnership with Chinese company Tencent due to its large user base in India. However, a new report has brought bad news for gamers waiting for the game to return.
According to a report by InsideSport, India's Ministry of Electronics is not signaling the return of the popular game. That means PUBG Mobile will continue to be banned in India and there is probably no way it can work to bring the game back. The report also says that ending the partnership with Tencent alone will not be enough to bring the game back to the Play Store in India. It is clear that the game can be allowed to come back only if the government wants it and it does not look like that at present.
Citing ministry sources, the report said, "There is no discussion among ministry officials about re-launching any app included in the ban list." We would like to avoid commenting on any particular app or company. ' In fact, there have been reports of PUBG Mobile joining hands with Reliance Jio to return to India, saying that if all goes well, the Jio platform could distribute the game to gamers in India. As many reports said, game developers are trying to form a long term partnership with Gionee.
Will partner with Gioni?
Reports linking Reliance Jio's partnership with PUBG Mobile are citing The Hindu Business Line report. Talks are underway between the two companies and PUBG is working with Geo to bring the game back to India, the report said. That being said, many of PUBG's long-term plans are for India, in which the company is looking for a strong local partner. So far, Pubji has partnered with Chinese company Tencent for gaming distribution.
