New Delhi: There is anger among farmers in many parts of the country against the Agriculture Bill. The farmers say that the bill passed is against them. This will end the minimum support price system and the agricultural sector will go into the hands of big capitalists. Although PM Narendra Modi himself has made it clear that the bills have been made keeping in mind the farmers and they will improve their situation.
Farmer organizations of many states of the country have called a nationwide bandh today. A nationwide India bandh has been called by the All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee, All India Kisan Mahasangh and Bharatiya Kisan Union. There is already a rail roko movement in Punjab and Haryana. At the same time, in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, farmers are taking to the streets.
31 farmers' organizations from Punjab and Haryana are already on protest and they want to make the government aware of their concerns through Bharat Bandh on Friday. In Bihar, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) activists staged a protest in Darbhanga riding buffalo against agricultural bills. Demonstration of farmers in Bihar started early in the morning. Police personnel have been deployed in the area to maintain law and order and ensure compliance with the safety norms of Kovid-19. The farmers have got the support of 18 political parties including the Congress. TMC, Left parties, AAP and TRAS are also opposed to the bill. While the ruling party of Odisha, BJD has demanded to send the bills to the Select Committee.
