Babri demolition: After 28 years, the court will hear the verdict today, high alert in Ayodhya


Lucknow: An
 important verdict in the Babri demolition case is set to come on September 30 after 28 years. The special court of the CBI in Lucknow will hear the case today on the various parts that were demolished on December 6, 1992. Former Deputy Prime Minister LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi and Uma Bharti are accused in the case. Security has been beefed up in Ayodhya and Lucknow in view of the high profile case. The CBI court has ordered that all the accused must be present in court on the day of judgment. The court has issued notices to other accused, including senior BJP leader LK Advani.


A high alert has been issued in Ayodhya. DIG Deepak Kumar said that the team of CID and LIU has been deployed in plain clothes. Special vigilance is being maintained to ensure that outsiders do not come to Ayodhya and spoil the atmosphere. He said a checking operation was being carried out in the entire district. He said a checking operation is underway in the entire district. In Lucknow, about 2,000 policemen have been deployed outside the CBI's special court. Apart from this, security has been beefed up in 25 sensitive districts in the state.

The hearing was completed on September 1

The special CBI court in the Babri demolition case started writing the verdict from September 1 after hearing the arguments of all the parties, witnesses. Earlier, senior advocates Mridal Rakesh, IB Singh and Mahipal Ahluwalia presented arguments on behalf of the accused, followed by CBI advocates Lalit Singh, RK Yadav and P.S. Chakraborty also presented his arguments.

A total of 32 accused, including Advani Joshi, have been arraigned by

both the parties. Special Judge SK Yadav said they would start writing the verdict on September 2. There are 33 accused, including decades-old Deputy Prime Minister LK Advani, former UP Chief Minister Kalyan Singh, former Union Minister Murli Manohar Joshi, former Chief Minister Uma Bharti, Sakshi Maharaj, Sadhvi Ritambhara and Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Champat Rai.

351 witnesses presented

The CBI has produced 351 witnesses and about 600 documents against the accused in the case. The court is scheduled to deliver its verdict later this month as per the order of the Supreme Court. It is to be noted that various parts of Ayodhya were demolished by car servants on December 6, 1992.

The Supreme Court has directed

that the relevant judgment in the Babri demolition case be completed by August 31. However, despite the special court's best efforts, more than a month passed.

May be 5 years in prison
