Kolkata: A taxi driver has been arrested on charges of indecency with Trinamool Congress MP and Bengali film actress Mimi Chakraborty. The name of the accused is being reported as Deva Yadav.
MP Mimi had lodged a complaint against him at the police station on charges of making objectionable remarks by the taxi driver. Following which, late Monday night, the Kolkata Police arrested the accused taxi driver from Mukundopur area.
According to the information received, Mimi Chakraborty, MP from Jadavpur, was going from her car from Baliganj Phandi area on Monday night. Meanwhile, the said taxi driver Deva allegedly made objectionable remarks pointing towards Mimi. During this, Mimi noted the number of the taxi after the taxi driver ran away.
He then lodged a complaint against her at the police station. Police arrested the accused late in the night. An official said a case has been registered against the accused taxi driver under various sections of IPC.
As soon as Trinamool Congress MP and Tollywood actress Mimi Chakraborty informed the police of Garihat police station about this incident. The police then quickly took action and identified the accused taxi driver and arrested him thereafter.
