Islamabad: Pakistani education activist and Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai has warned that 20 million girls will rarely return to school even after the global Kovid-19 crisis ends.
As reported by Dawn News, at a side event of the United Nations General Assembly on Friday, Malala admitted that Kovid-19 is a major setback for our collective goals of educating women.
Malala said, "Talking only about education, when this crisis is over, even after that 2 crore girls will probably never be able to return to class."
He said that the gap of global education funding has already increased to 20000 million dollars per year.
Malala, who was shot in the head by Taliban militants for going to school in the Swat Valley, reminded the international community that five years ago, the UN-determined global goals represented a future for millions of girls who wanted education and equality. Were fighting for
Noting that little had been done in the last five years to achieve those goals, he asked the world body, when are you planning to work?
He further asked, when will you give the necessary funds to provide quality education to every child for 12 years? When will you make peace a priority and protect the refugees? When will you pass policies to cut carbon emissions?
According to a United Nations report released last month, the global coronavirus epidemic remains the largest disruption of education systems in history. This has affected about 160 crore students in more than 190 countries and all continents.
The closure of schools and other learning places has affected 94 percent of the world's student population, while the number in low and low-middle income countries is 99 percent.
